Honor the Earthin a fusion of nature and creativity with Kasiopya's Earth Day Eco-Printing Workshop. Immersed in silk and flora, discover the intentional and grounding process of botanically printing on raw silk. Utilizing locally grown and foraged plants, the Kasiopya team will guide you through eco-printing your own large silk noil scarf. Your one-of-a-kind creation will be yours to take home and cherish. About the event:
You’ll begin by choosing your botanical materials, learning of each plant's unique properties, how to prepare and arrange them on the silk, and finally, bundle wrapping your item. We will utilize leaves, flowers, and bark grown in Miami, FL, as well as outsourced eucalyptus. The Kasiopya team will then gather your pieces to finalize the printing in our overnight boiling process. Your final products will be one-of-one silk depictions of the colors of Miami and the natural textures of each plant.
Final products will be available for pick-up 10 days after the workshop, May 2, at the Coconut Grove Farmers Market or participants may opt in for shipment for an additional $12 fee. Products will be available for pick-up for a total of 4 consecutive weeks, until May 23.
Materials provided:
- One 60" x 12" silk noil scarf per participant ($180 value) - All botanical printing materials: plants, cotton chord, vinegar, aluminum foil - A pair of plastic gloves per participant
